We forgot about God in all of this. After all, God selected GeeDub to be president, and whatever GeeDub does is what God wants done in this world. We can clearly conclude that whatever he and Cheney and Rumsfeld have our troops/agents do to human beings isn't torture by God's definition, because, well, uh, they are doing God's will.

Obviously, if you criticize God's administration, you hate God. And because America is God's chosen nation, criticizing the US is criticizing God. Let's get the bonfires and lynching trees warmed up!

It is a bit ironic that Dick Cheney's favorite 'dunking in water' (aka 'waterboarding' - aka 'drowning torture') harkens back to that highpoint of American culture and history, the Salem Witch Trials, where they used waterboarding to determine who was an enemy of God, aka 'a witch'.

Damn, now I'm on a roll. Nevermind using the Salem Witch Trials as a metaphor for the non-existent 'Communist agents among us' hysteria of the 50's. With our current irrational fear of 'terrorists' (specifically, non-Christian, non-white militants), an adaptation of "The Crucible" that deals with the hysterical fear of non-Christian, non-males exerting themselves against the dominant power structure, and hysterical fools making unfounded accusations as the metaphor.

Bush Moves Toward Martial Law
Frank Morales

The historic and ominous re-writing of the Insurrection Act, accomplished in the dead of night, which gives Bush the legal authority to declare martial law, is now an accomplished fact.

October 26, 2006

In a stealth maneuver, President Bush has signed into law a provision which, according to Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), will actually encourage the President to declare federal martial law (1). It does so by revising the Insurrection Act, a set of laws that limits the President's ability to deploy troops within the United States. The Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C.331 -335) has historically, along with the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C.1385), helped to enforce strict prohibitions on military involvement in domestic law enforcement. With one cloaked swipe of his pen, Bush is seeking to undo those prohibitions.

Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."

President Bush seized this unprecedented power on the very same day that he signed the equally odious Military Commissions Act of 2006. In a sense, the two laws complement one another. One allows for torture and detention abroad, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of America. Remember, the term for putting an area under military law enforcement control is precise; the term is "martial law."

and thank god these stealth illegal acts end with this president, and that the next president will not have the ability to use them.

and let's not forget how these things reach the president's desk..now, I know this is difficult to hear, but....

they must pass thru the senate and house of representatives FIRST. so much for STEALTH........yawn, when will the leftist propoganda ever end?

so Toad, please show me where W gave himself the extra power not originally written in the bill...just curious.

Yeas Nays
Republican 224 1
Democratic 173 22
Independent 1
TOTALS 398 23

This was how the house voted on this "stealth" issue. I feel sorry for you libs that your representatives did not stand up and fight the "disgusting" tactics by this evil president. They should be ashmaed and should be thrown out of office in two weeks.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
