I'll be an apologist for Terry as he is my friend. I think he has the right to voice his criticism of whatever he chooses, as I think his opinion is usually very well self examined and credible. What he doesn't do well is recognize when his opinion is aggressing someone. He takes the piss out of people so freely and kids people to the point that it becomes difficult to know when he isn't kidding. Even Terry sometimes finds this distinction difficult.
He attempted to have a discussion with Rick, but what he forgot was that Rick thinks he is over bearing and a rabble rouser, and too critical. Rick took his criticism as a personal attack (which is understandable). Terry overstepped the bounds of civility, and now is hearing about it. I don't know if he is chagrined or not.
Any way, Terry does have a lot of experience above and beyond climbing to offer his friends and the community. He is an asset to the community.
Let's not villify him too much.

Thanks for your words, Hugh. You explained Terry very well. I feel like Terry could be a great leader and educator based on all his amazing contributions and acquired skill. It's sad that he isn't viewed as such because it doesn't have to be this way. I don't think he means any harm and I hope he listens to what's being said here. If anyone loves the RRG, it's Terry. My point in hashing this out in public is to bring it to the surface and move on so our climbing community can become better, not worse.

Thank you for defending your friend.
Does he have a strange bear claw like appendage protruding from his neck? He kep petting it.

thank you Michelle and Hugh.

This whole situation is difficult for me, as I do also consider Terry a friend. This doesn't mean I approve of all of his actions. I do not. But I accept my friends warts and all and I know they do the same for me. We all make mistakes, some of us just do it more loudly than others... Nothing has happened that cannot be fixed.
