Went to the Cynthiana Democrat to check on putting in an add to sell a guitar and met a woman who had lost her husband to cancer in 2003, She'll probably have a shitty Christmas no matter what you call it.

lol..it really doesn't matter to me. I love the whole "event " of Christmas, and I just get a chuckle about how 'religous" people become this time of year. And this come froms someone who considers himself a Christian, but I get sick of the crap we Christian folk feed the world...

Thirty years ago I was surprised to learn that this holiday season sees a lot of depression and suicides. Except for my wife and daughter, all my original family is gone now, brothers, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I understand now.

My best friend lost her only child to a random robbery murder three years ago! Ten months later and two days before Christmas, she buried her father. The next summer, her husband left her for another woman because she wasn't paying enough attention to him.
She has a smile on her face whenever I see her, and I have never heard her say an ill word against anyone except the murders whom she calls "bad people." She spends Christmas eve each year passing out coats and blankets to the homeless on Louisville streets, taking gifts to the shelters, and rocking babies in the shelters so their mothers can sleep.
I'm selfish and cling to my Christmas traditions, but I believe she's figured it out!
