Thanks Spragwa for your suggestion. I called Grant about a half hour ago and have been discussing dates and plans with Karla. I'll post his reply here when we have a chance to talk.
Hardening up the bases at Roadside would be a task high on my priority list. Some of the areas need some pressure treated timber posts and beams to stop the deterioration. We can get some of this material and get it up there. Anyone else out there have any treated wood laying around they would like to donate?
Of course, our first priority is the Gathering Trail Day at Muir weekend after next (Sept 24). Then, we can take on Roadside.

Fantastic! Thanks Toddc.toddc wrote:I have about 20 treated 4x4's 8 feet long that I can donate. I would like to donate my time as well.
Haven't heard back from Grant yet. He'll have to approve of all this, of course.

If I may make a suggestion...use the dead trees that you find around where you are going to work. God knows there's enough of them after the beetle blight. The pressure treated lumber you are talking about using has cyanide in it. It's not healthy. There has been measures taken by the manufacturers to change the formulas but there's so much of it in stock that is toxic. You don't know what you get.
If you can, use a lighter style reinforcement like what was used to traverse the creek bank at solar collector. That way you don't use any metal which looks ugly and can be dangerous if you fall on it.
Anyway... that's my two cents

Ynp1, you fucking idiot. Rick is helping put together a trail day to fix things up at Roadside. I don't see you doing anything about it, so STFU.ynp1 wrote:does anybody else ever get sick of weber spraying about how great is little fucking muir valley is? that is all that guy can talk about. we have a post about roadside and he gets all bent out of shape because we are not talking about how great his muir valley is. I will answer your question, ynp1, but first I apologize for calling you a fucking idiot.
Rick owns Muir Valley, and speaks most from experience which is more than anyone can say for a lot of people here who speak from google. Most of his experience is based and tested in Muir Valley, so naturally, he talks about it a lot. No need for you to be an asshole about it though.
Now do you understand?
