I climb to have fun - most of the time i feel the need to rope up just on the approach trail, but I'm OK with that and I am not worried about chasing numbers because I just love to climb. Eventually I know that I will be able to climb at higher levels. It's not all about being social to me, not in the least - but I am also not one to climb, drink, smoke or fuck alone. Crowded crags are not always fun...but the energy that comes from a group of people all pulling for the same thing - all putting all their energy into climbing and helping one another - is just great.
I can agree - I avoid crowded gyms at all cost...it's a different kind of crowd when you put em all indoors....
Sorry you didn't like my story - for those people reading this stuff at work or on a boring evening at home - I hope it made you chuckle - that's all. No - I don't know a thing about you Artsay, that's the irony in it...it was meant to be funny I am the least malicious person you will find.
Climbing to me is about mentally and physically ridding myself of stress - not creating anymore. This is all in jest - I wouldn't post something like that unless it was in the suck forum, which this is...I'll keep my eloquence to myself I guess.

You're right Artsay, but man do I hate when I'm last in line behind the five smaller groups infront of me. So I just have to leave.
I totally agree with all the chatter when people are leading and are sketched, but people also need to know when their loud bar talk is affecting the climber. So ya gots to speak up!

I have to vouch for this girl. I know her and I know that she's awesome - very funny, encouraging, supportive and tries to get along with everyone. This is for all that it's worth ... if it's worth anything coming from me.

I hear ya! Unfortunately we can't and they can't do anything about that. Climbing attracts a lot of folks, you and me included.
Two weekends ago I was sixth in line for Mercy! I couldn't believe it! Honestly, that was the first time in my life that's ever happened and if I didn't have my mind set on that route on that day then I would've left. It was fun because of the people climbing it with me but it was definitely difficult to hear, focus, and keep my climbing rhythm.

ITs not cool when a group of people take over a crag, but then again is fun to have a bunch of people to chill with at the cliffs. Groups can be okay if thet're not assholes, i know when we have had larger groups at the cliffs, if a few people and want to get on the route(s) that we have ropes on i or other people i climb with will offer to let the others use the routes. So, i dont have a problem with big groups as long as they share and dont hog the routes.

I still support Estrogenfest. It's such a nice relief going to a cool crag and knowing that there are some cool climber chicks who will be there sharing the day and hopefully their food because I always forget to bring some (thanks Sprag!). It's such a male dominated sport and I love the boys for sure, but geez, I get sick of all that testosterone. Sorry Artsay.

Why are you apologizing to me? I love climbing with women and would love to be with you all if it wasn't the beginning of the season. I'm in project mode right now. In two months, I'll be all about having a more relaxed frame of mind with the day but right now it's time to RAGE!!!

i supported estrogen fest, but was unable to attend. however i don't make a usual practice of crag days, and would make sure that any other folks up there would be able to get on whatever they wanted.
also i realize i'm a freak about gear but i feel really uncomfortable climbing on gear that belongs to someone i don't know or barely know. i have no idea how others take care of their stuff and if they know how to set things up properly as well.

you can't "RAGE!!" with other women? are you saying that all the other girl climbers suck and that their lack of skills would hinder you in some way as to not send your project?...or are you saying that you can only find motivation to get on hard stuff with SCIN because you lack the ability of independent thought?

Artsay, Well, I just got the feeling that you were anti-group or take-over. Das cool baby that you'll be out with other XX chromosomes.
