Hopefully the UN will step up and get him for war crimes and act as a stabalizing force while Lybia works out its own democracy.

I think I get the nuance you are going for Ted. Muslim Extremism paints the entire religion- very much a mis categorization. I think we all recognize ( I hope) that the ratio of zealots in the Muslim faith to reasonable every day people who practice the Muslim faith is probably the same or lower than the same raito of evangleical christian zealots to christians.

I think the events of Iraq, and now North Africa and the Arabian Penisula demonstrate the underlying truism- like you said, people all want the same thing. Be able to live with a voice, some self determination, raise their families in a safe place, allow their children hope for a good life, and enjoy the fruits of their labors. Democracy is organic. Whether Bush Chaney Rumsfeld really had that in mind when they hood winked the country into war or not is now beside the point. Nation building is tough, but I guess it was good to try.

Gas Canisters. i seen this pop up on CNN a couple weeks ago, and immediately investigated. There's toys made in china that are more dangerous than this stuff. Its was sold by a private company in the U.S. Every single initial entry soldier is required to go through the "Gas Chamber" where they breath this stuff. You snot, cry, cough, puke and go to the house. Non lethal. But had they mentioned that, it wouldn't had made for a good story. Land mine Ban. Ive yet to see one that's not made in Russia. More importantly, i would like to see an IED Ban, im sure insurgents would comply as well.

so, do you agree with ted that "Muslim extremism" is technically incorrect?
also, is there any chance that the source of the information you credit to the UK class is the same as the wiki source? if so, the point i was trying to make is that the Muslim Brotherhood is not compromised of ideological clones, nor has its approach failed to evolve, at least in some kind of absolute terms. or were you speaking of some other manifestation?

Well....I have no problem with making a ban on land mines. Ill go as far to say that i agree with you clif. Trouble is, is that once the U.S creates a land mine ban, "that includes NATO", is not that we must comply, but we must also enforce. So yeah...im all for it. Just makes the paper work easier once i put a standardized Sierra Match King 7.62 in some "non compliant" personel.
