I haven't seen it yet, but is there anything to stop people from just, simply, walking around the gate? The trail might get a little ugly, if so.
Not fully, But it is in the works to make a "mock fence rail" that comes off the gate support post and leads directly to the ground at an angle. Sure if you want to walk around it it wont be an issue. However it will be far less labor to just go through it. Its kinda set at a natural bottleneck in the trail for this reason. But as we all know people will do what they want.....

You guys just don't get it.

The tragic inability of the CC to raise funds MAY be attributed to the tactics it employs.

Exactly what Andrew said about perception vs. reality. Do you want to be percieved as negative and threatening? Well you are.

All I am trying to figure out is if Clevis's perception is justified, or a figment of his imagination. How many people feel the same way as him, if it is none, then ignore him, if it is many then it needs to be addressed, and we should be thanking him for bringing it to our attention. Different points of view are not a bad thing, but we all need to be civilized and constructive.

How many payments have they already made?

Besides, they have already tried NOT having a gate.

tragic inability to raise funds...... joe, seriously dude... that really is almost comical. our inability to raise funds is whats keeping the place paid for and pretty much certain that it WILL be paid for on time with the communities money. but of course money is always and will always be a concern for any group or business, you always have to plan for the future and prepare for the worst.

whats funny about the whole thing as far as you and i arguing is that when this was discussed at the last ultra secret hollywood a list OPEN meeting at torrent. i had a lot of the same concerns as you did about the gate. but what is different about you and i is the fact that i see in order to survive as a business/land owner/coalition/babysitter and to keep that money rolling in you may have to think outside the box and try new things. my guess is still in the end it will bring more rewards than the risk it took.

your concerns are real, some even shared and in a lot of ways at least make people think but take some meds and calm down.

Dude, they come up short almost every year and the gap has to be caught up by Dr. Bob. Which leads to resentment and a general "circle the wagons" mentality. It also leads the people who are involved to withdraw from the group, feeding the perception of "elitism".
Dr. Bob is a good guy who has caught nothing but shit for sticking his neck out.(Read: No good deed goes unpunished)

Joe -

I challenge you to do your own fundraiser for the RRGCC. People have taken initiative in the past to raise funds for the RRGCC and have done so successfully. If you have better ideas, by all means, roll with it.

Instead of continually voicing your opposition, why don YOU act on YOUR ideas. That alone, might eventually get you voted on the BOD since you've expressed a desire. As it stands, we have plenty of people offering ideas for OTHERS to do so why don't you do something better by doing it yourself?

Welcome to 2004. 6 years later we've been making the payments for some time without having a couple huge donors cover the balance.

I've done my best to answer your questions. If there are others out there that feel the same as you, have them come forward.

It's been obvious since I've known you that if you're on a team it ain't the RRGCC team and I've seen very little to make me think we'll ever be able to change your mindset. That's fine, but I'm not going to cater to someone that hates us almost as a point of pride regardless of what we try and do.

If other people feel the same I'd love to know why. Also, if I've misunderstood your position on the matter let me know. It would be cool if I were confused about that.
