great, now i'm going to get it from both sides, eh?

who determines what is right..maybe they do have it right..the beginner gumby climbers need gear, shoes, and pads more than those of us who have our jowls stuffed full of this crap.

as I am sure Julie agrees, she won. period. she will cherish that achievement, pad or no pad. am I safe to assume the int and beg winners also went forward and chose their prizes? If so, they have no bearing on this discussion.

I still say the right thing is for Andrew to give Julie his pad. Problem solved.

and i agree; not going to beat a dead horse, but it is awesome when beginners get the best prizes. i have a lot of respect for comp organizers who do it that way. i'd never wish to take the glory (or the prize) away from any winner, regardless of level.

so i have communicated with (most) parties involved, i believe. i really am sorry that there have been hard feelings on both sides of this. now, if possible, let's let this thing die, and go back to being calm, rational climbers....

Once I was at an unnamed university in ohio for a motivational conference. the conference was pretty good - the speaker was nationally known educational theorist Howard Gardner. The buffet was super-awesome. Long story short - i had to go - you know. Something in the coffee made many of the attendees have to go also. We all ended in the same place at the same time. I was lucky enough to find an empty seat which was very much in demand. Everybody ate and drank to their best ability. the buffet was really really good. just the damn coffee was a bit too - strong. So we were all there being as productive as possible. I was really crushing and doing a great and spectacular job, and finished before anyone else! i discovered, to my dismay, there was no paper. this university was used to having many organized events such as this and had attendants at the ready. I yelled through the door and asked for a roll of tp. i was asked "which hand?" I was perplexed. "which hand?" thinking that since i am right handed (wipewise) i said "right." I was presented with a very large wad of paper. I thought i had chosen well. upon unfolding the paper, i found that it contained candy and a fruit roll-up! I was shocked! i thought i asked for and would receive, the paper that i needed - i mean the person in the next stall did as spectacular and athletically productive job as i did and they were wiping with a large pad! this wasn't right! I sadly and dejectedly wiped with what little paper i was given, ate my fruit roll-up and made my way home. So i can relate with the injustice of this situation.

KD, that is only made funnier to me personally because i took a course with howard gardner (spray!!)
i think any analogy that ties crap to fruit roll-ups has to be stellar...

The best thing that has come out of this is that several new people have joined the site, and hopefully they will begin to eagerly contribute so we can start thrashing them. Wouldn't you all agree?
