When you down climb, you would do the reverse of leading. Start by taking your gear of anchors, then down climb to the draw below, un-clip and remove that draw, and so on until you are on the ground. It is no more dangerous than leading climbing up.

not saying there is any impact. There is no reason to down climb a rrg sport route. Either stick clip/climb to the top or leave a biner or 5 if it makes you feel better. These Gentlemen were down climbing because they topped out and forgot there belay device and did not know of any other method, which triggered good samaritan to jump there ass. Had they known multiple techniques for rapping or simply lowering through fixed gear(which every climber should), they could have saved themselves from getting yelled at.

Oh, I get it now, sorry - little slow on the uptake.

Yeah, I don't know that I would give anyone grief about doing that, but it would be a good way to get hurt. Bouncing down a 5.5 ledgy / slab route sounds less than fun.

While I was annoyed and thought it was a little ridiculous as my friend is more than capable of safely down climbing a 5.5 I proceeded to lower him so I could clean the route myself respecting that he was looking out for the best. While he is still blabbing safety to us his partner cleaning the route they were on swings way out from the rock and hits a tree pretty hard. Could have been avoided if he'd been watching her and holding the rope while she rappelled. Then a little later I watch him give the same women a horrible static catch and she slams into the rock on a 5.12 that was clearly out of her limit, then instructs her to bail on the route with a single quicklink on one bolt. Seriously idiots at the crag are bad enough, don't be ignorant and rudely preach safety when you nearly injure/kill your partner three times in the same hour.
It sounds like all of you guys are gumbies.

no comment about the fraying wires on the cam and how they have no structural purpose, i'm a little disappointed
