Overcrowding
Without a doubt someone has to bring up the "I'll kick the shit out of any dog that approaches me" attitude. Get a clue.anticlmber wrote:i have started a new policy. if a dog off leash approaches me without an owner that dog will be kicked or tied to a tree and left for the owner to discover. better than them falling in a pit mine or tiger trap. leash your dog or don't be suprised to see a reebok mark across their head.
If we see you with new balance marks accross your head we will know what happened.

Ah, dogs at the crags topics are always so nice!
Is having my dogs at the crag a possible inconvenience to others? Yes, I think that it very much could be. Do I really care? Kinda, but much less then I used to. The reason? People do all kinda of things to inconvenience me, all the time, like poor parking skills, tr'ing through anchors, failing to show up for any trail days or failing to donate even a little bit of money. For acting like spoiled little children. For being loud and rude. For smoking. For bringing crying kids. For bad tick marks. For mobbing the easy route at the crag. For running laps on my project. Etc, and on and on. But, you know what? For the most part, I just deal with it and get on with my climb/day/life. Dogs might be an issue, but the are far from the real one. Just an easy target since you can't easily ban idiots. Kinda like the fox news solution - pick an easy target, ignore all the other problems and make people believe you are making the world a better place. We all have our own special issues that effect others, and we can all do a little bit to limit that for sure. At least most dog owners are aware of the possibilities and take some steps to limit the impact. But, what about all the non dog owning idiots? What are they going to do to make my day at the crag less sucky when they are around?

personally, I have never been at the crag and met a dog hater. Everyone that meets my dog has nothing but positive things to say and I am sure as hell not going to tie her up if you are playing with my dog, making her do high fives, and/or feeding her. So if you have an utter hatred of dogs, express it to me and I will tie the bitch up, but I better not see you pet her.
But as usual, all the wasted time arguing boils down to responsibility of the owner. If you have to bring a dog, which I do, pay attention to your surroundings, tie it up if necessary, remove turds from the trail, don't bring it if it attacks people, follow anticlimber wherever he goes, yadda-yadda-yadda. If you see me act irresponsibly, let me know so I can tell you personally to piss off, and if you kick my dog w/out provocation, expect to get kicked with provocation.

from now on wes i will hug you anytime i see you at the crag. clean hug. not the other kind.
just like not wanting to be around crowds that started this topic. you have choices: leave or stay - stay and be a dick or have fun and enjoy the differences. i always thought the social aspect of this game was a great part and it is. crowded or alone its just the being out and playing i enjoy. all the other annoyances are just part of the fun game.
panties may now be removed from their tight quarters.

krampus..just for your info on later days ...you do not "have to " bring your dog to the crag...you "choose" to bring them..there are a zillion alternatives....
you could stay home
you could go hiking
you could go mtn biking, and tire the pup out.
when life boils down to "I have to", we all feel like prisoners of our circumstances...climbing is an option in life..and bringing the dog is as well.
be like pig, and own up. I choose to bring the dog because I like having him with me outside. I will take my chances with folks who don't like him.
