Ridiculous. One of the primary purposes of the formation of the Republican party was to oppose slavery. I might also add that the conservative religious were some of the strongest supporters of abolition.
The Democrats fought tooth and nail for racial inequality. In lovely irony, the Democrats are still fighting for racial inequality, this time through affirmative action.
You just gotta love them wacky libbies.

yes the GOP is the same today as it was in the days of Lincoln. You are an idiot. That is why Strom Thumond was a Republican from 1963 until his death he realized it was the party of racial equality.
Abraham Lincoln won 2 of the 996 Southern counties in the 1860 election and was not even on the ballot in 9 southern states, remind me how did Bush do in the south? Oh wait Lincoln did imprison 18,000 suspected confederate sympathizers without trial that part sounds like our modern day Republicans maybe you are right. Nope still completely wrong.
Just got to love those self serving conservatives

heritage not hatred. plain and simple. the war isn't over, just the battle. i've met more racist people from the northern and western cities than in the south. and alot of other races are racists towards still other races. flag or no flag, the person is what decides the negative or positive aspects of an action.
