Lemme know if I can do anything for you.
'Darling, may I please be excused for a moment?
I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope to introduce you to after dinner.'
The polite way to excuse yourself and take a piss.

I heard about the fire at the LAC Workshop last night and that fortunately you were both OK. Very sorry to hear about River though. You guys are strong and I know you will pull through from this even stronger.

Matt & Amy, I am so sorry. River was a beautiful dog and RRO was a great place for the climbing community.
