So they like to ride each other dirty. Big deal. It's a beautiful expression of their love for each other. Don't judge.

But, my judgement is a beautiful expression of my disdain for everyone.

why, when topics get a bit personal and hit nerves, is it human tendency to "defuse" the situation with humor? seems to me the under current is still there. nothing gets resolved, and the hurt lingers..but if we don't talk about it, then we get to pretend it doesn't exist. (I am talking in the general, not about this specific case)

what a wierd human way of dealing with uncomfortable situations.

pigsteak, here's my humorless attempt at offering resolution.

We know who toproped that line clean weeks before anyone else did. Did he call it an FA?

No.

Why?

Because a clean toprope, Beta Flash toprope, Onsight Toprope is a freaking

TOPROPE!

It don't count.

Which makes my point 100% Charlie. I can not resolve the hypocrisy in my mind of anyone being listed on the FA who is not the first and only one to lead a route clean.

The purveyors of truth on here want to keep it all honest with integrity by saying it is "only a TR send", yet they proceed to then add their belayer, their significant other, their dog, the equipper and the guy who built the trail on the FA list. Where is the honesty in that? For the life of me, I fail to see how a TR send is not worthy of inclusion, yet the person who scaped the lichen is on the FA? That is F'ed up...

Seems to me, on a sport route, the first person to lead the line clean is the FA. Period. There should never be a second person on there. Where am I wrong with that? Why make it into a popularity party where we list everyone who sent out "good vibes" the day of the send?

That being said, you will see that on half of my routes, I have more than one person listed on the FA. I am guilty of this becaue I didn't think it flipping mattered. In the Red, FA on sport does not mean FA in the true sense of the word anymore. It has lost it's relevance.

Pigsteak is right about FAs not being FAs.

when you inspect and rap bolt a line, clean the holds, practice moves on TR, hangdog a route for a month, get beta from friends it is not exactly a FA. Maybe an "FFA on lead" or something. but that is why we shouldn't be picky. this isn't a competition or a job...it is a small bunch of wankers off in the backwoods climbing on rocks for masturbatory pleasure.
