I don't like to do big long lists of favorites because I tend to go on too long and then it just looks like its every movie I've ever seen.
Star Wars (all as if they are one movie, my favorite of them is IV)
The Big Lebowski/Raising Arizona (as many times as I've watched them I still can't decide which is funnier)
Last of the Mohicans (has to be my all time favorite drama)

Blade Runner - original version with the narration (on the Ridley Scott tip - I didn't really like Gladiator, but I still love the original Alien!)
Repo Man ("the power of matter over mind - that shit'll change your life", "let's go do some crime ... yeah, let's get some sushi and not pay for it!", "find one in every car ... you'll see". "John Wayne was a fag" I can't recite all the dialog in sequence, but I know most of it in chunks.)
Lawrence of Arabia (duh - try to see it in a big theater with a good print, intermission and all!)
There's a bunch of 'blanket' stuff like Cohen Brothers and Kurosawa. Did anyone mention Kubrick? Holy crap - 2001, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket (and the AI that SHOULD have been!)
He hasn't done any feature films (mostly music videos and short pieces) but Chris Cunningham is one of the best filmmakers working right now (If you've seen the video for Bjork's "all is full of love" then you've seen some of his work) Speaking of Kubrick and AI, Cunningham was going to work with Kubrick on that, which makes me all the more sad that Stan spent his time on Eyes Wide Shut, and not AI.
What's with "The 5th Element" on so many lists? Let's just say, I didn't get into it.
I only saw it once, but "Jacob's Ladder" was pretty amazing, and really left an impression on me - far from perfect, but it blew me away.
I almost forgot "Blue Velvet"!
There's lots of great Scorsese stuff, but if you haven't seen it, check out "After Hours" - a great little film!
Is anyone else looking forward to Linklater's version of A Scanner Darkly? (Cunningham had a crack at it after Charlie Kauffman, so I hope that Linklater has pulled it off)
