actually, no, that is not AID climbing, but nice try..that would be top roping...duh..
what do you know?
and yes. harder routes are sometimes put up with a stick clip....really steep routes aren't always practical to put a full top rope on, so going clip to clip can make it easier....
you read too many "how to" books...get out on the rock more....

For people who leave their draws on a project... I would think that leaving those things out in the elements for weeks at a time would really shorten their lifespan. UV rays breaking down the nylon and rain can't be good for them. What is the skinny on leaving them outside? Does it mean you should scrap them sooner?
Usually those projects are on routes unaffected by rain and UV rays.

rhunt, there is also a mentality of experienced climbers who don't want to hang out with newbies and put up their routes when they want to save their energy for their own projects.

ok, what nut house do you live in?
harder grades are put up by working it...
if you can't run sub 5 minute miles, then don't run....duh...
OK Porkboy, you're confusing what moonbeam said (~brush the holds after you work a route~) with the voices in your head again (If you can't free it, don't get on it)...
It's so freaking hard to watch you argue with phantoms. Either get all those voices to reach consensus before you post or get some comprehensive reading skills. Sheesh....
If you stick clip up the whole route that is aiding. Then you can top-rope the whole route. If you stick clip and climb, stick clip and climb, that is top-roping.
You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.
alien, don't you mean, if you stick clip and then yard on the rope and draws, that is aiding? the act of stick clipping in no way is adinig, otherwise all those who clip the first draw are aiding their climbs....
the voices are getting louder.....LOUDER....
I love all these rules we impose on the game..yet then we speak of the "no rules" and "do your own thing" mentality....who says we have to clean holds for the next person?
So - stickclip up the climb (or aid it) - whatever label you wish to put to it.
Then, top rope it without bothering any "hardmen".
Then, brush the holds.
Then, lead it.
