a chuffer is a person who climbs on rope. That is why the term became so popular among boulder'ers.
a chuff is a section of rope.
"chuff, chuff, pass" <--- got the idea from Artsey.

ok so I looked up 'chuff' on
http://www.m-w.com/home.htm and it came up with:
Boor 1) peasant
2) a rude or insensitive person
and
Churl 4) a rude ill-bred person
humm
oh and I thought a section of rope is a bite?
but thanks for the odd explanation
