Gollum does destroy the Ring.
Sam is the ultimate hero. Frodo fails in his quest. Its Sam that sees the quest through to the end.
One last Tolkien trivia...
Who's ring does Aragorn wear? (I was terribly impressed that Aragorn is wearing it in the movies) If you know the history of that particular ring please share as well.

"Hotel New Hampshire"
"Nina Takes a Lover"
"Rosencrance and Guildenstern are dead"
All of these are great movies.
Stanley Kubric was an over-rated director if there ever was one!
YO! Them's fightin' werds! "RaCaD" was a fine bit of visually recording what was fundamentally a theater performance. In contrast, Kubric's best work (e.g. 2001, Clockwork Orange) were fundamentally FILMS. They were works that could only exist as film* and expressed things in ways that only film can (not to mention commenting on film itself in various ways in both example films)
* yeah, yeah: film, video, whatever - you know the medium I'm talking about.
My guess is that you are more interested in things along the lines of 'an acting performance', which is fine, but isn't necessarily what Kubric's films are about. They exist as wholes, as films. What might also turn you off is the fact that Kubric isn't big into 'feelings' in his films. Kubric's films are crystals - cold and hard, but nearly perfect. His work may not be your cup of tea, but he's still one of the great directors - easily up there with Eisenstein, Kurosawa, Welles and the rest.
Pet Theory: Eyes Wide Shut was made to make money to fund AI - I have no proof of this, but it explains a lot! (Am I the only one who was more interested in Kidman's character than whatshisface?)
You want film trivia? Who is Chris Cunningham (other than "a freaking genius") and what was his relationship with Kubric's AI? Bonus: In which of his works can we see just how amazing AI could have been?

Cool, you've now restored my faith in film audiences around the country.

Nice theory. Wasn't Cunningham the special effects / robotics guy that worked on the
Alien movies? Rumored to have been working with Kubric when he dropped into The Big Sleep?
