but, 'resistant' doesn't mean 'continuous' or 'endurance' ?
wait, maybe 'solid' ?

... is futile.

Actually, I would not say that resistance and power endurance are the same thing....so therefore it is not, in fact, the cool way of saying power endurance. You can have a PE route that has rests in it. A pure resistance route does not have any rests (or a logical resting point). Even using the word sustained doesn't convey what resistance does.

isn't all climbing resistance climbing? resisting the forces of gravity.

back to the thread.
'all things considered'
foot slipped off last week, twice. i need to get back, but it's cold on the north side of military... and doubt i'll be back to the red before the year is finished. but the next nice warm day, it's going down. thought it was one of the best short routes i've ever been on.

Is that first part tongue in cheek? You say "it isn't therefore it isn't"?

Would you say that "a pure resistance route" is subjective to the individual climber?

What are some other "pure resistance routes" that are not Power Endurance routes? or sustained routes for that matter?

Golden Boy isn't sustained? Golden Boy doesn't require PE for you?

BTW people do rest on Golden Boy.

it's all about divergence from the mean difficulty (like a difficulty stdev). for instance, Chainsaw is 'resistant' inasmuch as the hardest move is about the same as the average difficulty. in a comments field it would go down as "no hard moves, but the pump was killer". a climb like Blood Bath, however, is more crux-driven because the hardest move is significantly harder than the average.... "soft. one hard section" '

or at least that's how i interpreted it.

Nice TB.

Chainsaw is a great example of a resistance route.

A "pure" power-endurance route doesn't have any "logical" rests either. Still sounds like the same thing to me...

Yes...it was tongue in cheek...

...because it is subjective whether it's resistance, endurance, bouldery, whatever...people were splitting hair over what resistance was, so I figured I'd take it all the way. Glad you picked up on it.

I sure as hell can't rest on it, but it's not my style at all, so that's why I'm enjoying climbing it.
