so are we in 100% agreement that Obama is following the same path of W, and has made no noticeable changes to the strategy? No matter which of these two you love/hate, they are proving to be of the same stock when it comes to these wars....

Obama is not quite following the same path as Bush. The tone is also way different. The Nobel committee will think more than 2x next time though.

Tone? What tone? You mean the tone that a Predator makes as it firing its hellfire missle down your cave hole? Is that the tone you're talking about? From what I understand about the Predator is there is no tone. It's just 'all quiet' , then 'Boom' and then its all quiet again......

Or is it Skin Tone that you're talking about? 'Cause thats the only tone difference I see

Tone.....goofy mf'r talkin about Tone!.......I got some tone for ya.....

Have you ever considered that the intelligensia had info that was not disseminated to the rest of us that showed what the real threat was/is? Have you ever considered that when Obama went into that first national security briefing that they laid the shit out before him. To proceed in any other direction other than the same way that W was going was folly. Did you ever consider that the naysayers that you love to espouse are not in the loop and they don't have the same info as the real movers and shakers? That couldn't be the truth could it...

Clevis - When Obama was running for the office everything Bush was doing was wrong. Obama and Hillary were going to bring a new level of "smartness" to bear on the situation. Now that Obama's the prez, he's handling the war mostly the same as Bush. Could your theory be so crazy that it just might be true?

I never did this. Revenge?? the people who pulled it off are dead. Revenge? All you get after you have exacted revenge is more dead people. A revenge response does not stop future violence. National-scale revenge only makes conditions worse for everyone. They did 9-11 to probably try to get us into a war with someone. The presence of a standing army in Afghanistan is not the way I would battle AQ ideology.

We are not torturing POWs. At least that is what we say.

An informed public is the basis of Democracy. To many of these types of issues and the rest of might as well not cast our vote or make our opinion known. Obama should go soft on terror. Engage terror in another way. Think about what the 'war on drugs' got us. We still have drugs.
- If Iran had nuclear weapons, they would most probably not use them. I know what your reaction will be to this. It is likely the same reaction I got when I said it in the late 70's about the USSR. They are a bunch of people just like we are. They are probably as busy trying to make ends meet as we are.

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that the people of Iran are pretty much the same as people all over the world, just trying to get by and be free to live their lives.

But to assume that the mad mullahs that rule Iran have a similar affinity for life on this earth as the politburo is a most dangerous assumption, one that could lead to the loss of many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of innocent lives.

the really scary stuff is the shared certainty of relative opinion between jihadis and vocal right wingers in this country.
