so what is it called when certain people in Kentucky are called hillbilly, redneck, ignorant, etc..is that a ism of some sort?

this white girl I work with says that everyone in Corbin is racist (she is from there)..isn't that also a derogatory comment from here that should be called out? she is grouping every white person in that town as the same...I guess that is racism?

Seriously, we had sufficient biologic proof, based on genetics, a hell of a long time ago. We just have even more now.

I grew up in an all white town in the middle of a corn field in Illinois. No blacks, mexicans or ragheads. My first real experiences with the other colors was in 1974 when I went off to school at ISU in Normal, IL. I was very awkward in mixed race situations.

Several sociology grad students put together an experimental class called blacks and whites. I took the class. The class consisted of a symmetrical distribution of race and gender. Half black, half white, half male, half female. Wow! I was going to be part of something that was to solve all the racial problems of the world and also learn about the strange feelings in myself.

Typical class:
Divide class into several symmetrical groups. Try to mix up groups from class to class.
View video (reel to reel) of racial incident.
Discuss incident. Some of these discussions were quite HEATED.

The results:
We did not solve the racial problems of the world.
Racial shit runs deep.
Intellectual and politically/racially correct responses to racial stuff is likely not to represent what is really under the hood.
Real solutions will take time, as in generations, not a few words in a college class.

Race is a thin line--when people are together people always mix regardless of race (parametric descriptors to establish group identity); this happened even when some of these people were slaves. There are many valid reasons one can think of to bash the president--use one of those.
[] Looking back at history, the human condition has suffered when race was an issue. Also I think society is worse when gender and gender preference are issues. I strongly butt heads with bible belt blacks about gay issues for example and at some point decide that my world is better without these individuals in my company.
[] BTW, I think that Crankmas has the right to be a racist or to maintain any ideology as long as no one is getting hurt.

I think Obama was voted in for two reasons.

Blacks voted for him because he was black (how's that for a stereotype?)
Bush screwed it up for the next conservative no matter who that was.
and White guilt.

oh yeah that's three...and somewhere in there he actually snowed the voters with his persuasive speeches. Iraq...still there....Afghanistan...more coming people...10% unemployment..right on target....largest deficit in our countries history (used to be the Bush legacy, but now Obama wears the ring)...check....health care that sucked up to special interests on both sides...perfectly done....being more of a coddling centrist than a reformer...that'd be him...talking with Iran...lol, I see where that got us (I think THEY said F Obama)...yawn, I am tired thinking about the deeper hole we are in, and only 37 more months to go...

one last query...why is he considered the "black" president..isn't he truly 50/50 as far as his family lineage....seems to me he could actually just be the next in a line of white presidents...

btw liberals, the stock market has roared the last nine months of 2009..that must be Obama paying off his rich friends at the CBOT in Chitown...o wait, that was your excuse for oil under Bush...dang, these $2.50 /gallon gas prices were supposed to come down once Cheney was gone...sounds like Cheney got the new VP the hook up to spread the wealth to the libbies.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

I'll give you a 4th, he wasn't running with Palin. That was the driving factor for my vote. If McCain picks some kind of realistic VP candidate and Obama picks Clinton to run with, I would have paused for much longer..... before voting for Obama / Clinton.
