Oh man. That sounds brutal. At least you hit the dirt and weren't swinging around n' around like some jerry wrecking ball-

Do I know this fall? ;)

I think my longest fall was from the anchors of Pine. Thanks, pigsteak, for being there as I screamed my way through the tree... that was one of those amusing times when you just know you can't clip but you're not... willing... to let go... just... yet... and then finally decide, screw it - wheeeee!

It might have been 40 feet, but I'm sure pigsteak'll call me out if I'm exaggerating. ;)
NO the fall I took with you was a grounder...

you always need to round up. I took maybe a 7 foot fall the other day. That was totally like a fifteen footer. Go ahead and claim at least 40, if not 45 feet for your fall.

I took one on the crux of tissue, and due to the soft catch it felt like 40+. In reality it was probably 25.

One of my longest falls was on on a route I normally can run up. I was trying to clip the last bolt on To Defy the Laws of Tradition at the end of a long day of climbing, and my forearms were fried. It seemed like 30'. I'm sure others on this board have taken that trip. Safe fall though. But I hate the sensation. One of the scariest sport falls I have seen was a girl falling on Wadcutter. She didn't realize the biner on her draw had flipped upside down. She pulled out slack, and it fell out of the biner, tried again, belayer fed out more slack, and she pitched off upside down on her third try with lots of slack out. The top of her head ended up only inches from the rock jutting out at the bottom. It freaked me out. As her head swooped by that rock I thought for sure I was watching my first climbing fatality. She shrugged it off with a "I'm 17, at this age we all think we are immortal," she then went back up the route and finished it.

My longest was on Amelias Birthday Route. Fell from the chains when my foot slipped on some dirty rock and with the high first bolt my belayer got pulled a good 15ft. so it had to of been about 45 or so. Not really scary for me but some people near by freaked about how close I came to hitting the big curving tree behind the route.
