I see no point in having any kind of debate with a madman and, frankly, the quote above is the ranting of a fucking nut.tomdarch wrote: No rascism? Have you talked with many Arab-Americans (or Indian-Americans (from India, not Native Americans) who are mistaken for Arabs)? Clearly, a major part of the so-called "War on Terrorism" is in fact a war on ethnic Arabs based on race and clearly has holy war undertones as a war of a "Christian nation" against the "false religion" of Islam. The "war on terror" is both based on this ignorant bigotry and is key to the Bush administration's attempt to hold power (see below) when they came into office with a total lack of democratic legitimacy. There is no war on a military tactic, but there is a war of "Christian America" versus Arab Muslims. This is exactly the blend of nationalism and racism/secular conflict that has been the basis of many full and partial fascist regimes.

Well, this IS a christian nation, amirite?L K Day wrote:I see no point in having any kind of debate with a madman and, frankly, the quote above is the ranting of a fucking nut.tomdarch wrote: No rascism? OK, clearly you flatter yourself if you think what you do around here is engage in debate.L K Day wrote:......I see no point in having any kind of debate with a madman and, frankly, the quote above is the ranting of a fucking nut.
An intelligent response here would be something along the lines of...
.....racial profiling is a practical means to an end. It's fukkin absurd to think you can combat militant fundamentalism when you don't profile radicals from areas like Somalia and the middle east. Profiling done competently is a means to an end. It is employed daily in South America, Japan, Europe and everywhere else. It is a necessary evil. Professors from Iran and Radicals from Somalia, even though they are both brown, aren't necessarily both evil. But when you dismiss any sort of profiling as fascist then you're living in a different kind of reality than me.......
That would be a response that leads to intelligent debate. I have seen nothing that makes me believe Mr. Day is capable of anything other than New Republic sound bytes. You are as bad as Alan, and even he hits the mark sometimes.
Heh. Even I hit the mark sometime. That's great.
I was driving over by Cliffton today and almost went back in there just to hang on the wet rock...
