Truth is, if my dog appears to be bothering someone I leash her, that includes being near a mean dog. I still don't see why one would but I know its ones right to take a mean dog to the red but I am jaded cus mean dogs on trails and at dog parks are why the devil has come out in my own dog. The arnold schwartzineger in me thinks its cool that she can be so scrappy, but the pauly shore in me wants the innocent butt sniffer back.

Dogs at the crag have converted me from a lifelong dog lover (and owner) to a dog hater. I will love all over your dog at your house, but I have feelings of disgust when I see it at the crag (with a few notable exceptions).

I am ashamed to feel this way because I do not like to have hatred in my heart, but can any of you give me a reason to feel differently?

Do us all a favor in terms of future access. If you get the opportunity to adopt a dog, make a conscious decision to either quit climbing, leave it at home, or not adopt it. Your "right" to bring your dog to the cliff will eventually get our crags closed.

crowded crags and butt-fuck dogs. i have avoided both all year by just cruising to new areas. i won't say where but there are tons of quite places right next to crowded walls that have been a blast to check out.

as far as dogs go. i have started a new policy. if a dog off leash approaches me without an owner that dog will be kicked or tied to a tree and left for the owner to discover. better than them falling in a pit mine or tiger trap. leash your dog or don't be suprised to see a reebok mark across their head.

you have a dog charlie? I congratulate you...cause I have never seen him/her at the crag with you..you truly do lead by example.

in your view, do you see the rrgcc ever going to a "no dogs" policy for teh PMRP?

My crag dog passed maybe 3 yrs ago, but I had not been bringing him down for some time cause he was old. I can say I will never own another crag dog based on the inherent hassle for me and for other people.

I don't want to be the person to make that call. I'd rather the climbing community around here adopt its own approach. How about something less than the 2 dogs per person average we have in the Red? Go out west, or to NC, and revel in the lack of poorly behaved, access threatening circus that are the dog mobs we have at every cliff around here.

i think that would be tough because people would be like, "i paid my MFn milk money ima do what i want." which is somewhat true but i pay my milk money and i don't like dogs. so who wins?? who's in the right?? will people ever drop their agenda to help everyone?? doubt it. owning a dog makes some people more selfish than they would like to believe. and selfish over a shit eating, ball licking animal. not me the dog.

Since this has turned into a dog thread, I will say my two cents.
I took my dog to the crag for 13.5 years (she died this year). She was always leashed. I would never dream of letting her run around sniffing people and their belongings and churning up dust while playing with other dogs. I did not have the option of leaving her home 3 days a week while I climbed, but if I had a trustworthy dogsitter I would have left her at home. I do think it is inconsiderate of others to have your dog (nice or otherwise) off leash at the crag.

Tie it up. That way, people who like dogs can visit your dog and people who do not like dogs can avoid interacting with it. Common courtesy.

I went to a wall a month or so ago that used to get little traffic. There were 3 groups there and an established trail. Got my fill then went to Military on the drive out and nobody was there and it was a Saturday.
