yep I live in a pretty good neightborhood now and did when I was robbed. There was 5 of us living in the place at the time and no one was home when they broke in, somewhere between 8am and 11am.

I guess a dog or a gun will work if you are home and get robbed....that or just sleep through it and call the cops and the insurance co in the am.

Would be sweet to have your own lion wouldn't it? Just turn him loose in the house when you leave. when you get home he will have half a burglar eaten already.

That is good and bad. A loaded revolver sitting around the house is so much easier for a child to blow his brains out with. I've got three revolvers and none of them even have safeties on them. A pistol, on the other hand, requires jacking one into the chamber and flipping the safety. Not hard, but a lot more than just pulling the trigger.

Yeah, I see Liddy's point, but not sure I'd take his advice. My grandma, who lives about a half hour from the gorge, keeps several loaded revolvers around the house. I ran across one when I was a little guy, but fortunately no harm came of it. My mom got on her case, though, and grandma's response was, "Well, how can I shoot someone with an unloaded gun?!"

Look I used to sell this shit, be careful. It's almost as bad as the used car industry. I can tell you first hand from years of experience, all you really need are stickers that say your home has a security system, and a dog. Granted, your dog cannot dial 911, but he can scare the shit out of a potential thief and any amateur thief will rob your neighbor if they see a sign that says "this home protected by ..."

Apply to be on the show "It Takes a Thief" on the Discovery Channel. They'll raid your home, then fix it up and give you a security system then try to raid your home again to see how the new system works. Supposedly the two guys on the show are "retired" thiefs so it's like having a real-deal burglar breaking in.

I agree.

I have an alarm system, but I think the number one thing that keeps the bad guys away is the sign out front and stickers around the house. Also installing motion lights is a tremdous deterant.
And if your considering a gun just ask yourself if you could shoot it at someone becouse if you can't DO! buy one. I have a military riflemans medallian with unit supply specialist training in the army with full knowledge of how most military firmans are used, and I won't own a gun.
