That's just life dude. If it were closer, it would've been repeated by now. Here Comes Batman is hard, but that doesn't mean it's a world class route. By the way, that's kinda creepy that you saved what I wrote five years ago.

Yes, people change. Their views and opinions change as well. If I didn't change as I grew older then I would never progress. I've tasted much more rock since then and I guess my standards have gone up a notch. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

SCIN,
Weren't there some pictures of 512OW on Batman? It would be nice to see them posted in the album. You know how us old farts like to wax nostalgic.

you are so full of yourselves. no one wants to hike to the middle of fucking no where to do a 5.11 pile of dogshit. sure maybe there is some stuff "unrepeated" and sure maybe it's "trad". you guys are just making up excuses to make yourselves feel strong and superior when the fact is that your getting old and there are a bunch of people that could flash your shit if it were worth the hike. i mean it's cool you did them and your proud of them, i would be too of an f.a. in most cases, but your making a bid deal out of 5.11's! if you put up some 5.12+ choss pile in the middle of nowhere, then i'd be willing to bet a few people would go repeat it. someone needs to get danny to go do that stuff so yall will shut the fuck up.

We backpacked in along the Trace & slept out under the stars beside a rock, while making sweet, sweet love. I woke up to the smell of coffee that Alex was brewing while still in his bag, and the load of fresh semen he recently blew on to my face. The following "teabag" was tasty! Then the excitement as Alex grunted through the crux. And finally, the remembrance of the route climbed years before as I seconded up to the top. At least this time we had two ropes and could rap instead of on the FA when we were fools with only one rope and had to bushwhack miles to get down.
sounds like quite a time.

Sorry. I forgot the rules of this board. Let me realign myself properly:

Captain Static: You were wrong to mention climbing and having fun in the same post. I'm sure you'll correct this in the future. Please acknowledge how old you are and that you can't climb very hard and I might respect you. Also, let Larry Day know that his services aren't needed anymore.

Horatio: You are really a great climber, a great person, and very clever and witty. I will never tire of your cutting edge humor. It's amazing how shocked I can be when you mention sex, poop, and body parts. I mean, I've heard it a 1000 times, and I still have to gasp I'm so shocked. Your unending homosexual references are the reason I still post on this board. Thanks.

SCIN: Thanks for standing up for the 1st Amendment when it's convenient. I respect how you can be a champion for the love of climbing while joining a posse of critics of that viewpoint. And you can express that contradiction in a single post! I'm sure you didn't really mean what you said 5 years ago about an obscure trad route, so it's not like you're changing your mind. It's more like you were "misinterpreted." Some thought you liked hard offwidth, but I guess you only like it if you did it. I'm still trying to understand your spray about remote offwidth choss at Lost Ridge. That seems a lot like remote offwidth choss at Indian Staircase to me. Perhaps I'm just old though.

Wes: God love ya! You wallow about on all kinds of routes all over the country, never quite doing anything notable in your life, but you have the gumption to criticize like an expert. I guess you had more schooling that I thought. I'm going to score this one Captain Static 24 points, Wes 31 points. Good job!

So how about it gang! Am I kewl again or what!!!?

Johnny, I am not suprised you feel the way you do. I mean, you have put up more then your fair share of chossy routes as well. The problem is that he is just sofa king smug about something that happened so long ago. I am not trying to be super rude or whatever, but some things just need to be said.

Oh, and in case you missed it, this thread is noteable enough for you to reply to. Thus, my life still has meaning.

SCIN, remember when you were trying to pay someone to repeat one of your routes? This route has gone 25 frickin' years without a repeat!!!
Think if you had to wait that long until someone got on Country Lovin'. I guarantee you'd be going nuts. Errr...I mean more nuts.
I think it deserves a repeat, even if it is "a choss pile in the middle of nowhere"
I guess team YoYo couldn't just couldn't handle it, but that's alright. I have a crew demented enough to hike an hour to climb a sick crumbling flaring choss slot in the middle of nowhere. Not only that but it will be fun.

Aw hell. I tried to stay mad. Then Wes kinda calmed me down and I actually laughed at HF's post. That pissed me off. Then I read his post again and laughed again. It's the reference to the dismembered arm that got me. I hope SCIN's drunk when he reads my post.

It seems that this thread has renewed interest in a second ascent as I have just received a PM in addition to Legion's post. For the historical record, all of the previous attempts I know of except one have been by RRG first ascentionists. The first to try a second ascent was Mark Schorle in the early 80's. After he succumbed at the crux, he asked that a rope be thrown down. After the rope was thrown down, he pulled himself up out of the slot hand over hand & I commented, "Here Comes Batman". Thus the name of the route was born. Jerry Bargo was the next to try. You would have to ask him about his experience. Will Stites is the only other person I know to have tried the route. Although not a RRG FA'er, Will is a hard trad climber w/experience in the Valley. If I recall right his attempt pre-dated 512OW's by a few years.
