Coffee poems
by Leon Lowder

First cup:
I just wanted to run naked through the streets
screaming at the top of my lungs
But I'm not so pretty
and my coffee cup is small.

Second cup:
The coffee cup falls quietly to the floor
shattering and splashing
everywhere.

Third cup:
She was carrying a bag of coffee cups at her side
gently rattling and rocking against her legs
always threatening to break
but never breaking. 8)

Hmm - I was trying to find a coffee poem that would fit nicely into this thread for coffee lovers. I thought the first verse was amusing, but the rest (in my opinion) you can take or leave. Ha - "But I'm not so pretty and my coffee cup is small."
"I enjoyed a Guinness after I got back home from Palm Sunday Mass." - Captain Static

"Listen, you heard what I said. Do you want me to donate or not charlie. Suck it up and procreate." - Andrew

i'm not saying that we don't like the taste of coffee, but i remember when i first started drinking it: bitter and grimey, like foul dirty water. but i've developed the taste for it, no doubt. but when it comes down to it, the first exposure to it is probably the truest. i could be wrong, i won't deny that. but i think of it being comparable to people who drink jack daniels or absolut straight up. they say it tastes great whereas most other people would say it's sick.. and it is

coffee is to coffee beans as
beer is to barley.

Now think about that... ok, we eat chocalate covered coffee beans but who has ever heard of chocalate covered barley???

A friend of mine has a 3-yr old son. When he was about a year old, he wanted to try everything that his mom was eating or drinking, including her morning coffee (brewed strong, black, no sugar). Eventually, she relented and let him have a sip of the cooled coffee, figuring he wouldn't like it and would get over his desire to try everything. It backfired. His first complete sentence was "I like that coffee!"

That thing with coffee being an acquired taste - how does that happen?

I'm also thinking that it's a bit like climbing. Climbing is scary, painful and just plain hard, but you get a certain buzz, and after a while you get past the harshness and learn to love the subtleties. If only climbing smelled as good as coffee.

Theres nothing like wrapping both frozen hands around a hot mug of coffee when you work out in this weather. I get my water intake, its hot when its cold out and hot chocalate is just to sweet.
