The Shire was completely empty yesterday and the Sore Heel lot barely had any cars- I think the road has stopped some people. Miguel's was pretty dead too yesterday. I thought the red was supposed to be crowded already?

Everyone is leaving their windows / doors open now so who knows. Hopefully the cars themselves won't start disappearing!

The Motherlode was also crazy packed today. Also, when we pulled in we were almost certain we were pulling in on the thief. Some old truck without a license plate and with some company name on the side (forgot what it was), and a rather haggard looking guy with a pipe wrench in his hand. We were slow moving just kind of checking it out, and he was also slow-moving but eventually started walking down the road with the pipe wrench and some black, plastic pipe. I was watching, and he walked a bit then turned around and started coming back toward the parking lot. Then some other guy came down the hill in a much bigger truck with the same company name. At that point I figured we no longer had the thief in our sight and went climbing. No busted windows when we returned.

The folks from "Occupy Wall Street" moved their operation here.
A record attendance day: 140 cars, 490 climbers (3.5 per car average). All cars were accommodated in the main lot, the two overflow lots, and our personal driveway. Better yet, I walked around to all the climbing areas and found that, although busy, it wasn't absurd. In fact, mid-day, there were four 5.10s, one 5.9, and a 5.11 open at Bruisebrothers!
No accidents, great weather.
Just about what we expected. Another Rocktoberfest weekend. Once again Liz and I received a lot of nice compliments to the
Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition "whose efforts made Muir Valley possible."

Where is the Lode? Is that the place that smells like an outhouse and has ground hardening like an archelogical dig?
