Here is a better company to purchase a camera from. Maybe. Bushnell makes good scopes for guns, I don't know about their capabilities to create scouting cameras.

Re: Rockhouse Burglarized
have all the recent break ins occurred at the lode parking lot? the camera sounds like a great idea. I don't know how they'd feel about this but I wonder if a group got together and gave 5 or 10 bucks each to purchase a camera and then donate it to the RRGCC who could use it for this reoccuring problem. seems like a better idea than one person buying it who wouldn't be down in the gorge as much to use it.

Good idea, phil, but it doesn't fit the mission statement of the RRGCC.
Can't we all just get along?

i know my membership in a climber's coalition would depend on whether it's mission statement facilitated climber's interests.
training is for people who care, i have a job.
Re: Rockhouse Burglarized
building a bridge? buying land? that's RRGCC.
putting up a camera? not exactly a tough thing to pull off. i'd donate $10

Re: Rockhouse Burglarized
if not the RRGCC then perhaps we could work with a local business or individual who could pass the camera off to folks who are going out for the day or who want to set up a stake out. I am not in the area so I can't help organize/coordinate the effort but it doesn't seem like a huge effort to organize. I'd imagine someone is already doing this under the radar.One-Fall wrote:pawilkes wrote:have all the recent break ins occurred at the lode parking lot? the camera sounds like a great idea. How well do these cameras do from a distance? All of the photos I have seen are very close where wildlife have triggered the camera. To keep the thing from being seen or stolen it would have to be pretty far away meaning the motion sensor won't work.

That is what I was thinking. I can only imagine how it would feel if the camera got stolen.Saxman wrote:How well do these cameras do from a distance? Cover the flash with camo duct tape. They make that too.
You would be amazed at what people wont see even when it is right in front of them.

Re: Rockhouse Burglarized
I know it would suck because everyone comes here to climb, but if we could get a group of people to just hang out in shifts the break ins would stop. No thief is going to try something if I'm sitting on the top of my van with a shotgun across my lap. Would it be worth a few hours a month to stop this shit?
