The world is a hard and cruel place, that will not be changing any time in the near future. Sure things are nice and comfy here in the US but they are a bit tougher elsewhere.

I have to admit, I do agree with you there. Its impossible to communicate the ideas you are trying to encompass using words because they take too long and by the time you are done the idea is gone. If the idea is known already, (like the idea of a cookie) then simple quick words can be used to discuss it, but there is no certainty that someone else has the idea you are describing in their conscience already so words don't really help.

maybe language was an evolutionary stage that served a social need but in so doing it repressed human ability to communicate in other ways- look how technology is changing communication in other ways

I'm even gonna go out on the opposite of dhuff and say we need MORE disease, famine, and war.
Epidemics throughout history have wiped out portions of the human race. Perhaps this is by design? Maybe our advances in medicine have created the overpopulated, overstressed world we live in.
Feed the starving children in Africa. Why? So they can make it past puberty and continue to have more starving children? Their land and lifestyles do not support their current populations. That says something, doesn't it?
War is horrible. It's also another form of population control. Always has been. It's been over half a century since we had a war that affected population growth on a global scale.
I think it's about time for a great purge. We can start with the soccer players and sport rapellers...

So who are the undesirables? Who do we murder first? Why is one person more worthy of existing than another?
And to address whoever said something about getting rid of words: In my experience, if we are communicating in any form other than telepathy, we're not at our full potential.

Reading comprehension, much? We start with the soccer players and sport rapellers
At some point, something has to wipe out a good chunk of mankind. The alternative would be forced sterilization or a gross overpopulation. Why? Because at some point, we run out of resources. At some point, in your perfect little world, all the resources will be shared equally and everyone ends up dying because the equal share is not enough to sustain a single life.
