Bald Rock Rd. is a county rd. It is not maintained by the state and not a state highway. There is a 15 mph sign on the right just after you turn on to it.

other peoples' eyes? like, there's more than one person with your viewpoint? who? i can see that you like to play devil's advocate, and that's fine.. but pick your battles... topics like this save lives and help the community.
Clevis Hitch wrote:Like you're some sort of play ground moderator. Sillyness.
the topic is neither a) inappropriate or b) unnecessary. im glad it's being addressed--every time i drive by those houses i feel bad for the folks who used to enjoy a nice quiet home. you should, too...unless you feel entitled.....
Clevis Hitch wrote:People navigated their way to the Red from diverse places around the globe.
i don't think that navigation has ever been a concern.

and i, yours. hopefully a little more effectively, though.

Yeah, like powen said, you need to re-read the link you posted Clevis.

"The speed limit for motor vehicles on state highways shall be as follows, unless conditions exist that require lower speed for compliance with subsection (2) of this section, or the secretary of the Transportation Cabinet establishes a different speed limit in accordance with subsection (4) of this section:
(a) Sixty-five (65) miles per hour on interstate highways and parkways;
(b) Fifty-five (55) miles per hour on all other state highways; and
(c) Thirty-five (35) miles per hour in a business or residential district."

Pretty sure Bald rock is not maintained by the Kentucky DOT, and is therefore not a state highway, according to the link you were so kind to post:

'"State highway" means a highway or street maintained by the Kentucky Department of Highways.'

Forgive me if I find posts rallying against friendly driving advice stupid and annoying. And this is from the same guy who was talking about how awesome of a day he had climbing and driving drunk in another thread.

Residential district" means the territory contiguous to and including a highway not comprising a business district if the property on the highway for a distance of three hundred (300) feet or more is improved with residences or residences and buildings in use for business;

I think the the problem here is either you guys just skip over the big words that you don't understand or you are ignoring its obvious meaning so I'm gonna point out one more time the obvious true meaning.

con·tig·u·ous   /kənˈtɪgyuəs/ Show Spelled[kuhn-tig-yoo-uhs] Show IPA
–adjective
1.touching; in contact.
2.in close proximity without actually touching; near.
3.adjacent in time: contiguous events.

Meadows wrote:Hey kids - I know you're all anxious to get to the crag, but please observe that the road you're traveling is residential and kids may be out playing. Wrecks have even occurred in the past on the blind spot near the cemetary just past the white house.

Signs will be posted in the future, but for now, spread the word and slow down.
To me this is condescending. To someone else "Hey kids" might be endearing. Regardless, I doubt Meadows meant to start a discussion about speed limits. It was just an ill conceived post (just like most of mine). The good news is it sparked some funny posts. Keep it up!

You're insecure from the get-go if you think that is condescending.
