"the positive aspects of negative thinking" is a kick ass bad religion song and i'm sure where mr. k got his insight.
whenever i can't stick a hold, hit a baseball, whatever; i just picture the hold laughing at me or the face of someone i don't like. and then i crush it.
positive is fine it just doesn't work all the time.

Like me on facebook but hate me in real life
hey Mack5- i'm not sure how, if at all, you are really 'concerned' about 'addiction.' but within the last year or so there was a bit of discussion coming from a slightly different tact, do a search if you care, but i recommended then too that learning to play music is also highly addictive and one might suggest 'fruitful' -but yeah, really just a big waste of time- such is life (so i'm lead to believe)
and if you get stuck working a chord sequence, focus on the hate/anger/alienation...

when i was 15 i was obsessed with girls and not in the best of ways. after the second restraining order and third pepper spray i learned that girls don't find you knowing all about them "cute"
i've never had a route call the cops because i knew it's every move

climbing is about you, how hard you can climb, how much you can spray. others "pretend" to be in it for some jacked up reason, but what drives a person in their heart is improvement and success. either that or their 9 to 5 sucks so bad they are escaping on the weekends to pretend to have something bigger than themselves to do. it really is a time waster my friend. just be honest with what it provides and carry on.
so wise the ideas merit revisiting.
and when you commit suicide, success is yours.

Mack5 - you're lucky to have gotten such an early start on climbing. If it inspires you, do it. Don't second guess. If you can't stop thinking about winning climbing competitions, develop a good training program and start signing up for comps. If you daydream about living the dirtbag lifestyle, finish high school, buy a van and hit the road. Believe me, the real world will still be out there waiting for you when you decide that making money is more important than climbing. Just BE SMART. Listen to your body and don't get injured. If you want to climb harder, read all the training literature out there and develop a good plan. If you're smart about it, there's no reason why you can't achieve most any climbing goal you set. Just do whatever inspires you and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.
