Bingo. I also won't let some elitist prick diminish my accomplishments for me, even if he/she is faster/stronger/whatever in any given activity.

tradwanker and powen..you two take this all too seriously. I, like you two, have run marathons....9 to be exact. however, unlike you, I don't consider my accomplishments anything to write home about.
running a marathon, is really not that big of a deal. just alot of persistence and many summer miles. now, finishing in the top of your age group, qualifying for boston, running sub 3 hours, these are definers....I have done none of those, but I would never go around like completing a marathon is some big deal.
shoot, have you seen some of the folks who complete these marathons? you'd think they couldn't get off the couch, but there they are, finishing.
it doesn't make any one an elitist, just a realist.
completing a marthon is like climbing 5.12...attainable for anyone who really tries.

Piggie, I think you misunderstood my point. I don't have any stickers or do I puff about anything I do. (If you have ever seen my gumby-ass climb, you would understand why!) I was just saying if you have never done something, don't judge someone who has.
With that being said, I was amazed at some of the people in the mix.

oh, don't get me wrong. I love the stickers. I asked my wife to let me have Obama, Mccain, and Ron Paul yard signs during the election.
the majority of us aren't athletes. never will be. the majority of climbers either sucked at competitive sports, and won't admit it, or they were social outcasts in high school, and are looking to redeem themselves now. they have no bragging room over runners, the quintessential loners.

being consistant with the origional thread, I do beleive that most stickers are shameless self promotion. 26.2 is the same as a 5.12 sticker, it sais your really nothing special but may occasionally get you laid by someone who doesn't know any better, but stupid girls are easy no matter what. 5.11 would be like 13.1 "I just don't put the effort in to be above average". 5.7 rocks is cool cus it just says you like climbing and doesn't really promote your abilities or lack there of.

noooo, 5.7 rocks says you are a wanker who is pretending to climb with your college drinking buddies....5.7 rocks says "look at me..I suck."...5.7 rocks may occasionally get you laid by that first time climber chick who doesn't know better.....

The team suck bumper sticker trumps all with its honesty.
