I wonder if the State Park would allow us to use the skylift parking for overflow from Miguel's during an event? Or maybee we could have a portion of the event at the State Park. That would put all the people at Miguel's within walking distance of the event.

I honestly doubt that the State Park will assist us in anyway. Remember, their top "dog" is not very kind to the climbing community. I would say borderline slanderish! Who do you think shut climbing down at roadside?

Opps, I meant camping! we all know I can't type. Maybe I should state that on my bio.
Another thing that he did was to get the entire freakin botonical clubs up in arms stating that WE, the climbers are out their in their forest STOMPING on all the precious/rare plants. He actually slammed us in a botonical society journal. He is not our friend.

You mean shut camping down at Roadside don't you? Hey, they may have dissed us with the Pocket Wall deal but business is business right? The Jeep 4 X 4 Jamboree has their headquarters at the State Park. The "top dog" you are speaking about, is that the person responsible for NBSRP? I'm sure they have a boss. If the economic impact of climbers was made know to the Natural Resources & Environmental Protection Cabinet the Park might change it's tune?

The creation of a Public Health hazzard by campers pissing and shitting all over the place is what closed Roadeside camping!
Just an idea

I'm curious about several things.
What are the odds of climbers actually privately owning portions of land around the climbing areas. Not the bluffs themselves, they would all be co-owned, but I'm talking about the land surrounding the crags. If climbers had a chance to own some land and not just donating money so somebody else can own it maybe it would entice people.
Second, what are the chances of taking 3 or 4 or however many acres and creating a huge climbers campground with plenty of parking. Maybe this would entice people as well.
Third, what about the possiblity of road improvements for access. I've never even been to these areas, but everything I've heard sounds like it's a wild ride.
Basically, just offer something that will improve access and maybe it will entice people to act.

88keys said it first, but it needs repeated....if the mountain won't come to Mohammed....
Keep in mind too that this is a suck year financially speaking. Not sure it's going to be the last either. Do what you can but recognize that some things have fundamentally changed since 9/11. If the center of the demographiocs curve has shifted towards smaller donations, then the only option for growth is through increased volume. Significantly increased. Think big.
