Damn. Nice pics as usual. How many do you shoot per week? Seems like you just got into this a year or so ago.

Thanks much. I have taken just over 20,000 photos since I got my current camera about 14 months ago. Which is when I started actually getting serious about photography. It has been a fun time learning, no doubt.
These were all from St. Louis. Some from the zoo, some from a park, and some from near the river confluence.

Wow--the birds in flight are awesome! Where were you when you got the penguin and the puffin (is that a puffin)?

nice bird pictures. Definitely need alot of light to get some of those wings to sharply freeze. You never really appreciate some of those wildlife pictures until you try to take some and realize how long you might have to wait just to get that one good picture. Like fish jumping out of water, you really have to just be standing there with your finger on the trigger waiting.

Thanks much! I am pretty sure it is a puffin, have to get crimpergirl to confirm though. They were at the St. Louis zoo - a very cool (and free) place. Some of the other birds are from a pond there, some are from the St. Louis Biotical gardens, and the others are from a wild bird refuge near the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
Wildlife photography is very cool, I like it even more then climbing photography, but it is even tougher with the marginal gear I have. Anyone have an extra $10,000 I could, um, *borrow* to upgrade?

The flying birds are a pelican and either a great blue heron or a little green heron (hard to tell how big it is and I'm color challenged). One of the still birds (the one under the penguin) is a puffin, though. There's also a nice shot of a swimming white pelican. Those things are frikkin' huge! I also see a wood duck, snowy egret, peacock, mallard, robin, blackbird, and a bunch of parrots perched on a blond.

not the best photo (thank you, Budweiser), but certainly a wonderful moment. Clearly VA has a way with little ones, too!
