Imperial Life in the Emerald City.

Pretty good so far. A liberal view of what happened in the green zone during Bremer's rule. And by liberal, I mean not completely false...

Krampus you should read the Neon Bible by Mr. Toole he wrote it when he was 16 but it was published after The Confederacy of Dunces. Pretty amazing for a 16 year old.

Is is any good, bazogop? I thumbed through it and got the idea that it was a little on the surreal side. Was I wrong? I hate surreal stuff.

Murakami is VERY surreal, and this novel runs true to form...

I read Cormac McCarthy's The Road over the weekend.

Recently read Khaled Hosseini's Kite Runner.

Both I thought were excellent for quite different reasons. The Road was a much easier read than previous McCarthy novels I'd read and post-apocalyptic is a favorite genre for me.

Kite Runner is a good story about a foreign culture conflict reflected in the life of a boy: coming-of-age book.

Read 7 last night - very good. She really takes her time developing the story, but it is worth it for sure.

Cool. Probably not destined to be the classic that Blood Meridian is, but still really good. Have you read Child of God? Short and outrageous. Suttree was good but it seemed longer than it needed to be. The part where he visits the witch is fantastic.
