So...no fling with your girlfriend's sister? This thread has suddenely lost much of it's appeal...
Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report
hitting the ground is still hitting the ground if their would have been a rock their, could have been bad looked like a hard landing glad your ok and cool with landing on your back.all i can say is i would have been mad to b dropper on tr like thatpkananen wrote:Haha, that was actually me "who got dropped". First day back out after 4 months off and it was a little rough. However, I'm not sure falling 4 feet counts as decking.
I didn't get dropped, I let go. I quickly realized I didn't get all the rope stretch out like I thought I had. It wasn't my belayer's fault at all, it was mine.

Find me one person who has TR'd a hard start and not rope stretched to the ground, your anger would be wasted energyCLIMBTRAD wrote:all i can say is i would have been mad to b dropper on tr like that

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report
I was half way afraid to open this thread for fear of seeing a story about me falling past the belay on sunday. Shit happens real fast when your second piece rips out.I'm fine. bumped my tail bone and prefer to stand instead of sit for awhile. So yup shit happens even to the experienced. It's the first time I ever ripped out a 4.5 BD. I know it was good when I placed it. I'm thinking I kicked it moving up. I was a pitch up already and most of it was more like sliding down a ramp than falling through space. It was sort of like riding a log flume without the water.
I still think that chimney will go but it's kicked my ass twice now.

Yup happens all the time. But on a tall route like that you can do alot to make that landing a little softer than it was.krampus wrote:Find me one person who has TR'd a hard start and not rope stretched to the ground, your anger would be wasted energyCLIMBTRAD wrote:all i can say is i would have been mad to b dropper on tr like that
But im a sissy i dont want to hit the ground that hard and my belayer knows he would have walked out with a black eye if he droped me like that .just ask him

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report
The only way a belayer could prevent that from happening is using a static rope. There was over a hundred feet of rope out. You are going to have 4 feet of stretch even if you cinch it up as much as possible.CLIMBTRAD wrote:Yup happens all the time. I know what your saying and i know im being harsh. But YOU know your belayer could have done some more cinching than he did.It was a hard hit. You bounced up like it was all cool but the look in your face said it all . like what the hell your ya doing
But im nobody you guys laughed about it so i should not care if you dont.
IMO climbing can be safe and still push your limits

TR'ing is dangerous. Let this be a lesson. Never, ever leave the sharp end.
