So, things have been getting steadily worse, though if you have money of the cash type, it is a great time to buy stuff. Or if you can get a loan, interest rates aren't going to get any lower. So there is an upside, but the question is, how many people can actually take advantage of it?

Still hoping they have chicken noodle at the soup kitchen later this winter!

PS, if this happens, what will all the southerners do on Sunday afternoon? http://www.slate.com/id/2206711/

Crap, the house isn't worth anything on the market but the county assessor it me up for a 25% hike in tax evaluation. Suuucks... Not worth keeping the place if I don' get annual 25% raises. Oh wait, I gotta get a job first I guess....

I am sooo glad I didn't buy into the "if you rent you are throwing your money away" crap...ha! So as I spent the last 5 years sharing rent with a friend, throwing my money away at a townhouse I never have to lift a finger to "fix up", I managed to pay off all my debt. In the process I gained a pretty good savings account and only have a car payment that pays off in 9 months. I am in the auto industry but not the big 3, the all american HONDA! So unless I lose my job which is not likely...I'm good!

yup taxes are going up and I'm losing equity. My house is half way paid for and I'm keeping it. There's no place like home, Dorthy. Anybody know of a decent Tacoma for sale? I need another truck. Shmendrick keeps breaking down on me.

You may have been right not buying in the past, but there certainly is no better time than now to buy if you actually have some cash and don't plan on moving in the next 3 years.

I just stole a house in downtown Frankfort right on the river. I looked at the same place 2yrs ago and it was priced about forty grand higher.

Not yet, I am going to wait until I actually have the 20% for a down payment. Buying something now just because its cheap is the same thing as buying something you don't need just because its on sale. I don't really need to ever buy a house, I will be prefectly happy renting my whole life.

My mortgage is actually cheaper than my rent was.
