No us troops have been in Rwanda and Darfer...UN troops have, If you don't trust the UN then vote for Ron Paul and get us out of there.

thank you tres bon....that is my point. where in the world are american troops in this travesty? clinton and bush should be ashamed for the LACK of sending in troops in this genocide. failure to act, as in these cases, is still a failure.

there is no oil in darfer. We need to start thinking of how to sustain our massive population without the energy that oil produces rather than spending billions on destabilizing the nations whose oil we will need in the immediate future.

Saw an excellent interview with James Baker about Darfur and Rwanda, sort of opened my eyes a bit about those situations. Wish I could remember where it was, prolly Charlie Rose or some other PBS sponsored freedom hating liberal cesspool.
And irregardless of how much of a raging leftist independent I am, I still respect James Baker.

James Baker is fucking brilliant. I've had the same reaction to him.... until I found out who he was working for at the time and how whatever he was saying benefitted that employer. I'd be interested in what he said - I'll bet it's a great wrapper of 90% truth in order to get you to swallow the critical 10% of lies that he's promoting at the time. Still, if you can weed out the BS, there's probably some important insider viewpoint in there.
Essentially, he's a certain kind of 'great lawyer', who can present his client's position subtly and brilliantly. From what I've read, when it was clear that the plan was not working in Iraq, he was sent by Bush I to the White House to talk some sense into the current administration. Evidently, he's brilliant, but not a miracle worker.
Oh yeah - wooooo! Thread hijack!
