dhoyne, No gray areas, eh? I am not for wholesale cutting of every tree, but I also don't think removing some trees/rhodos/etc where needed for a route is a bad thing. I have cut down and helped to cut down a few trees for route/crag/trail developement. Not a big deal to me at all. Now, if there as some 200 year old, old growth tree there, then I think maybe some serious thought should go into any thought of removing it. But, concidering that the overwhelming majority of the red has been logged more the 2-3 times in the last 150 years, cutting down some trees for convinence when required is pretty low on the list of impacts from climbers.

I was being sarcastic, Wes. I'm not very familiar of the area you're talking about, but if the tree has already been chopped and is basically dead, it's no longer doing any good. Remove it for safety reasons.

Most of the trees in the RRG are less than 30 years old IIRC. They grow fast.
Sarcasm is a tool the weak use to avoid confrontation. People with any balls just outright lie.

you bunch of fags. I'd cut that fucking thing down my own goddamn self if I could get to it. You bunch of do nothing pussies. scared of what everybody would think of you if you got caught doing anything that would possibly "offend". So here's your excuse, That tree could potentially cripple someone. I don't care if you've only got a.0001 % chance of it being someone you know or yourself. Crippled is just that, crippled. Is that what it takes for one of you to do something---after the fact! Of course you'll always have the excuse that ,"someone should have done something." As you consol yourself that it wasn't your responsibility to do anything.

Maybe someone should explain to the new landowners that the KY recreation law only applies if there is no knowledge of hazards. Now they know, Now they must do something to eliminate the hazard or they are liable. You let somebody get fucked up and their parents find out that this problem was discussed ad naseum on this website. They'll loose that land they just bought. NO SHIT!!

Then we'll see what a jury thinks about that insignificant .000001% chance of getting hurt

But since I'm not a guy that proposes a problem without offering a solution I'll put a bounty on it. $50 dollars to the man with enough sack to cut it down. I'll probably not have to pay it cause climbers notoriously lack, sack.

To ya fuckers!!!

James has my chainsaw... I sold it to him before I left....

Of course you fuckers know I'd cut the GD tree down if I was there and it wouldn't take all this....BS.. But yeah. I'll pay to get it done.

To the rest of you...

Don't you feel like a bunch of fags. I had a gurl PM me and say she'd cut the tree down just because it needs to be done. Big, bad chest thumping," I'm a man cause I can climb 5.12!".

Don't the rest of you feel totally emasculated? I mean a gurl is gonna go out and cut a fucking tree down cause you bunch of panty waists can't do it.
I just want you to know that if I had been there when someone fell into the tree, I would have gone to war. That tree would have been off of that cliff right then and there. None of this, "someone should do something about that". I would have tore it up by its roots!! Any of you who know me KNOW I ain't lyin'

Bunch of fags....don't worry, I'm gonna send a gurl down to fix it for you.

Most of you don't know this but the RRG climbing community has a forester on staff. He is known as Snake. He wants to be called Mantis. Oh yea.....he knows about trees including this particular one. He could make the right call on this pressing issue. I know the proper channels to contact Snake. Just give me the word. I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Great! Ultra has riled thousands of chainsaw weilding men/women around the red to chop down every potential problematic tree.

I say it is still a landowner's decision.
Remember...it may be climber friendly but it is still private property.
