I'm thinking that at least at Shady Grove you could've heard it while you were at one of the walls...I think I would've gone to see if I had heard it...I would hope someone else would do the same if it were my alarm

generally i don't react to alarms all that much in the city or a parking lot in broad daylight but if i heard one go off at a crag i would be down there as fast as possible, in part because i've got a factory alarm on my car.

Yeah, I would definately be down in a flash, especially if it didn't stop after a minute or two.

Of course, the other solution to this is to not leave valuables in your car, get a removeable faceplate, etc. But, it'd be a bitch to carry all my CDs up to the rock all the time...

thats whats great about an Ipod (amongst other things). been thinking about putting a lock box type thing in my car for small valuables. if i ever put a deck in my car for sleeping, the bottom part will be lockable.

You could always buy a lock box for you car/truck. I know they definitely make them for jeeps.

iPods are pretty cool. I take my shuffe with me everywhere.

If you want to leave expensive stuff in your car, you might look at some of these products:

They won't stop a very determined thief with time, but they will add a nice layer of security. I use one for my laptop.

I read somewhere once that when parking in a remote location (like the Southern Region) you should take all your valuables with you and leave the glove compartment and driver's console (you know, the thing between the front seats) open so potential jerk-faces can see there's nothing to break in for. It's more of a hassel, and I always get a little OCD about forgetting my keys at the crag, never mind wallet, etc., but I'm going to do it from now on. It's a bummer we have to.
