I like the TP roll there Wes. It adds to the homeyness of the place.

Are there instructions on how to get the back seats out? Is that an option or did you unscrew stuff?

Looks very homey indeed!

You should be able to just pop them out with the pull of a lever near the doors (I think?). Once they are out, it makes a nice flat sleeping platform - just add a couple of the cheap ground pads and a fleace blanket, and it is as good as a bed.

There was just an article on the winter issue of She Sends about a school bus that runs on recycled vegetable oil. The couple who owns it employed the help of a bunch of hippie friends from Prescott to transform the bus from a gas-guzzler to a grease-guzzler and then they did a long road trip and "fueled" the bus through Chinese/Thai/etc restaurants. They said it smelled of wonton. I think they called her La Refrita.

That bus, or one like it, broke down in Miguel's a few years ago. Great concept, but it did smell like a rolling deep-fryer. Yuck!

Back to the point of the thread - 3 onsights in a row (almost regardless of grade) is great!

I made a platform for a minivan once that would fold open over the back seat. It was big enough for a queen sized air mattress with plenty of storage under but allowing more than two people to travel in the van. With two cars running together we could allow three people to sleep at a time and drive 24/7 cross country. It was killer for camping, too. Just park in a flat spot.

My cousin is converting one of his diesel vehicles to vegetable oil. All it takes is a way to heat the oil before it gets to the engine (and some filtering on the way into the tank).

Hey diggum ford makes a pretty cool hybrid, its the ford escape (their small SUV). It is even 4x4 but gets pretty decent mileage. Doesn't really haul all that well but will definitly get you to the crag and then some and is hybrid so wont totally guzzle gas.

diggum, I still have the waterproof xterra front seat covers. Will sell them to you really cheap. Pretty good shape, but pretty dirty.

I know the feeling with xterras. I still love it tho - its great for carrying gear and the endlessly shedding dog.
