120 dollars in printing costs and 500 for Bradford, sounds like a lot of money for 35 people. I would think word of mouth could get you 35 people, and I am sure you have quality setters. I could see that much money for a comp of a 100+, but not 35. Just my opinion.
Oh yea, I have only competed a couple times and I really only do it to for the free stuff. I could care less if about who is better, you or me. I would have a better time being outside climbing with a few friends or family, like what I am doing tommorrow. Sorry Dixie Rock.
OSU College Climbing Comp
yes, paying one guy $500 for a small comp is insane. it is not completely true that the costs go up with a larger comp. law of returns....still set same number of problems, same amount of staff, same utility bill, etc. but we also get more revenue.
just have to print more tshirts.
if a gym loses its ass on comps time after time, its time to get into a new business. at the very least, cover your costs.

Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
discojett,
Penitents is a good sport place, tend to be on the harder side 5.10 - 5.12, (though there is a 5.2 sport climb...) well bolted, fun and short, practically no approach, and the rock garden is about 1/2 mile away, so there is plenty to keep you busy. I'd say worth the trip, there is free camping on site, and damn good mexican food in the valley.
let me know if you come down!

Thanks to everyone at OSU for putting on a great comp. UK definately represented Kentucky well. Ranjan, Stich, Dorfling, and Cardosi finaled in Men's Advanced, Frayer Finaled in Men's Intermediate. Ranjan finished 2nd overall. We'll all be back next year.
Today I quit my job. And then I told my boss to go fuck himself, and then I blackmailed him for almost sixty thousand dollars. Pass the asparagus.
no some super strong asian guy won. I forget his name but aparently his parents used to drop him off at a climbing gym everyday after school. I wish I'd had his parents.
