Alan, I meant, as in describe to me exactly what it is that seperates the two on quality. Like, you could say that the backstreet boys, your favorite band, are better than the New Kids On the Block because they use longer and more complex melody, as well as more sophisticated harmony (which, by the way, is true).

I'm just asking you to explain why you think one is better.

It's one of those quality judgements that comes from the gut. You see, I listen to Public Enemy and I think, "Fuckin' A! These guys ROCK!" and then I bang my head and scream along waving the devil sign in the air. Now when I listen to Justin Timberlake my gut wrenches and I feel the desire to shit in his mouth. It's a markedly different feeling in each case.

I worked in record stores for, well, for over a decade, ending in 1998 when I couldn't take the fact that I had 1200 copies of the three month old, dead in the water Michael Bolton album eating up the catalogues of three indi distributors (hold on... breathe deeply... breathe...)... Anyway, I actually was forced to listen to the Backstreet Boys and NKOTB by some of my more sadistic co-workers and I think Britney Spears beats them all hands down. And she sucks sweet corn diarrhea shit. If it wasn't for those freaky Nordic songwriters that pen her hits she'd just be another white trash mall whore from Slidell, Loooooeeeeesiana. I mean, not that she isn't a white trash mall whore from Slidell, LA but she's a famous popstar white trash mall whore from Slidell, LA.

And I fucking despise fucking Morrissey! What a miserable twat. I'd love to meet him just so I could stuff a rabid squirrel down his throat. I would rather listen to the Pet Shop Boys all day long (which would cause me to stab myself in the ears with a pair of knitting needles) than to listen to half of any Morrissey album. And, of course, the same fucking assholes that would play NKOTB really loud would also swoon over the new Morrissey album and force me to hear the fucking thing twice a day or worse!!! GAHHHHHHH!!!!

Fuck Morrissey.

Fuck him in the ass with an angst ridden teenager's foot.

How can I learn to be this verbally creative when I'm pissed about something? I usually just end up sputtering.

Its fun to watch the mental decline of climbers as they improve thier numbers.
So far Yas is the exception.

Maybe that's what performance plateaus are all about. As the body gets better your progress stagnates to allow your brain to atrophy. Don't some of the highest performing athletes say to perform with an "empty mind"?

Jeez, Ynot, I've only gone up about a number grade since we climbed together last... I have been leading some stuff but... mental decline, huh? Boy. That's a tough choice: Mental health or higher numbers...

Imagine someone sitting in a corner drooling all over themselves but giggling hysterically. They seem to be enjoying themselves quite a bit. Maybe this mental health thing isn't all it's cracked up to be. Let's see, normal and well adjusted while struggling to figure out the beta to climb a flight of stairs or babbling incoherently about applesauce while pulling 5.14 when it's soaking wet. Applesauce, here I come!

Dammit! I've only heard gunfire twice here in Louisville since 2000 when I moved here. In New Orleans I heard it at least twice a week. Usually amazingly big magazines being emptied by fully automatic weapons. Sometimes you'd hear a semi-automatic pistol or shotgun being fired but usually it was the even sound of an uzi or an AK. The guns were three or four blocks from my house...
I think that I know what is going on here. I was on vacation down south once you know eating some gumbo and I was watching scarface on surround sound. It was awesome. But sorry bout that

Oh, and I've decided I don't sound anything like Public Enemy. I had all these killer ideas for this rap war thing with Odub but I've lost my inspiration. I'm not a rapper (though I write better rhymes than any of you fuckers) so I'll just mix what I've got (drums, bass, scratch vox) and upload it tonight.
