Re: Muir Valley
I want to make clear that I am not taking sides on this issue but just wanted to point out that no posts by Bruisebrother indicated anything flammatory. His original post was meant to remind people who wish to visit Muir in the future. I really don't think the thread is all that ridiculous.Tucker wrote:I understand that if we would have been aware of the leash law this could have been avoided...but I don't feel like that is the real issue here... Instead we have the ridiculous thread going, all because we didn't know. I apologize to everyone for this whole thing except to the jackass that felt it would be better to scream and threaten me and those I was with.
Just serves as an FYI, which turned out to be necessary since it seems not too many people knew about it.
Bruisebrother wrote: Muir Valley, a reminder! There is a leash law in effect in the Muir Valley Preserve. If you bring your dog into the valley it must be leashed at all times. All visitors who wish to climb must submit a Release Waiver prior to climbing, either on line at MuirValley.com or at the main parking-lot kiosk. Anyone entering the valley from the north through Cat Hollar must be a guest of Cathy's or have personal permission from Rick Weber.

I wasn't there when this incident happened, but I don't think it's considerate to have a friendly small dog mauled by a larger meaner dog and then be treated disrespectfully and rudely when the guilty party was first politely informed of the leash rule.

Okay, perhaps "nearly mauled". The smaller dog was in the mouth of the larger dog and completely off the ground before the owner of the smaller dog was able to remove it from the jaws of the aggressor.

Just a suggestion....
The rules on the Muir Valley web site probably need to be updated about the leash issue. This might prevent some upset, hard feelings and altercations between dogs, dogs and humans, and humans in the future.
