I just wanted to say good luck with everything, it sounds like things are really at the prelim stages anyway, if nothing else it has made my own wall look a lot better, empathy not self pity.

Boo Hoo. No place to climb. They won't let me in their clubhouse.

What do you need to train for anyway? Lack of training makes anything you get on an adventure. It can also make you go from a twelve pitch day to a three and a half pitch day, leaving more time to do something meaningful with your lives.

Quit your sobbing and live with the fact that Lexington sucks and can't support a gym and make the best of it.

Does anybody know of a case where someone signed a waiver, got hurt, and the waiver didn't hold up in court?
Unfortunately, yes!

Well, not exactly. All to often, the insurance will settle prior to letting the case go to court.

I won't share the specifics of this particular case however I can say is sucked for all those involved.

Best of luck with the Co-op. I'm hoping that all the new regulations/restrictions/guidelines involving climbing gyms don't cause those around me to have to shut down. If they do, I know where there's a great wall to practice on. 8)

Thank you Acer, Spragwa and the Lurkist for the emails. Now that I understand the difficulty of the task I'll cut out all the sarcatistic post. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

On one hand the climbing clubhouse seems elitist BUT on the other hand (and it is the bigger hand mind you) it's nice to see a group of people taking time out of their lives to make their circumstances better rather than bitching and whining about shit. more power to 'em.

The whole thing with "the Shop" in Chicago had/has its plusses and minuses. For the most part, the members were low key about it, and membership had a lot to do with being a likeable person who climbs f*@king hard. It wasn't terribly 'clubby'. (from the outside, at least) I did meet some people who were marginal members and were wankers about it, but the core members were/are pretty nice. It does have the problem of not being "merely a bunch of friends who built a wall" - instead, it's perceived as being an 'elite climber' thing, so there may be some strong climbers who 'expect' to be let in. Also, even with the facility that they built, most members still climb at other gyms for some variety.
