Yasmeen: You never know. I'd hate to imply that I would use my office to get some kind of personal benefit...but I can easily alert the post as to the continuing problem and how it affects climbers.

I am fortunate that I drive a TOTAL beater. Man, anyone would be insane to loot my car! They'd probably choke on Dakota's hair flying around.

In breaking news, Andrew just called from the Red and told us that they caught the guys who were responsible for the break-ins on Saturday!! Zach (our friend whose car got broken into/looted) got all of his stuff back! I'm really really happy about this. I hope that everyone else who had stuff stolen got it back.

People should still be really careful at the Motherlode, but I wanted to put the good news out there.

dont think that the break-ins will stop now...there are probably several more poeple out there that are doing this...(remeber, it has been going on for several years now). I would still suggest taking the same measures to prevent break-ins until it is know if these were the only theifs...

If anyone was thinking about trying to catch the indiviudals themselves... i would say have a nice locked car with stuff in it. Then have several people sitting in the forest near the lot but not easily visible to passing cars (you definitly want more people then they have to preventy and incident) and just sit around all day and see what happens. If you are worried about the gun situation make sure you carry your own. No one is going to get in a shoot out with a group of people that outnumbers them. Just a suggestion though, if you do try to catch theifs be carefu!

hey eagleman, since you seemed to have been cryogenically frozen for the past several years, the dudes that were responsible for the most break ins a few years back were caught and thrown in jail. there's been a breakin here and there since then, but not a crime wave. welcom back to earth man!

They dont do enough time to stop them for long. It's a non-violent crime.
You can bet there's more than 2 or 3 people doing it to.

What we need are some shotguns. I think that will stop this really quick, just some of us climbers sitting in the back of a truck shooting the breeze, enjoying the day, NOT drinking, with our shotguns.
