Don't worry mr. cruel, its not to late to form a team if you are so inclined,

To answer your question, here is the history:
In the gorge, various climbing partnerships have persisted through time, and have often been identified by a surname. Examples: team live, team hippie, team scurvy, etc...

Ok, then...

Team: The Wired Nuts
Active Members: Mike, Dustin, Annie, Damon, Michelle
Inactive Members: Keith
Membership Always Open
Goals: At least 1 or 2 epic mountaineering trips per year and a lot of weekend craggin' but it all boils down to having fun and not working/studying
Rivalries: Don't know of any outside of the group!
Recent Accomplishments: Mt. Rainier, the great canoe ferry of Summersville Lake over labor day, continuing to improve the difficulty of our climbs which opens up a lot more opportunities for fun.

LOL. Thanks Dipsi.

The good thing about it is I kinda get to choose whether I want to do trad or sport that day and weigh my options based on whoever offered for me to climb with them.

So what is the purpose for all these teams? Is there a field day coming up?

In years past I belive there was some marathon event where basic skills were put to competition. You know, gorge skills, such as:

-Timed roto thrash even, with crashpads
-Topo map skills
-most crags per day competition
-chossiest FA
-Exploratory competitions, kind of like running the gauntlet, except that briars and rotos and thorns replace soldiers. (wolfpen basin would be a great place for this)

For sport climbing teams, events may include:
-Largest lactic/tissue ratios
-spray competitions (sort of like seeing who can pee the furthest)
-Most 5.12 routes/day
-Beauty contest
-timed leg waxing event
-Color cordination competition
Oh, and some teasms are seeking the golden piton award.

Currently there are no bouldering teams.
