i come up through Jenkins/Pikeville and there are quite a few long stretches with blind curves and the authorities enjoy setting up 'License checks' but of course it's a dragnet for dui's and assorted improprieties. i find sitting in the back seat the whole ride helps me maintain perspective.

That link only speaks about Checkpoints being legal (in some states) for DUI. Does that mean they are checking everyone for BAC, or are they just using that exception to stop everyone and anything?
Seems pretty lame, regardless. I dont drink and drive and i dont do drugs, so I dont have anything to worry about, but still seems shady. I do have a CPL from MI and carry on occasion, though. We have reciprocity with Kentucky, so I can carry there too. Never been pulle dover in OH or KY while I have been carrying though. I'd rather not deal with that.

Technically since they aren't stopping you under suspicion of a violation they aren't entitled to see anything. You don't need to produce a driver's license, identify yourself, answer questions or produce proof of insurance. Answering questions just leads to trouble. Two questions YOU should always ask. "Am I being detained?" and "Am I free to go?" If yes to being detained ask for what crime they suspect you of committing prior to the stop or if yes to being free to go that's your cue to leave. If you feel you aren't able to stand your ground then go ahead and hand over your papers but let them know you aren't going to be answering any questions. Since you are not obligated to, ya know, 5th Amendment and everything. Get video if you can since that'll help you should anything bad happen. Bambuser.com is good for streaming right from your phone so they can't delete it since it goes straight to the internet.

Too bad they don't know (or care) which is which.

toad, don't be alarmed, but i'm going to say something which, after the initial revulsion/retching period subsides, i want you to honestly consider....
you should become a cop.

I have considered your suggestion, and after giving it careful thought I have concluded...
... that I would rather hang glide directly into a volcano.

Does anyone know anyone who just handed over their stash like the cops asked "just give it to me now, and I wont take you to jail" and all that? I'm asking seriously because I want to know the outcome of that old line. I know one guy who gave up his shit and still went ot jail, but he had a crapton of shrooms.
