I have no idea what that response means, I suspect it's quite snarky. I seemed to have missed the humor. My post was hopeful and sincere. I truly hope however you aren't an example of other [non]-climbers at RRG.' . . . this plus the above makes me suspect that you are a little reactionary and sensitive. No biggie. You've been climbing before, what ropes do you need to see? You could talk one or two of those wickedly kool friends into going 5.3-ing with you to train for the 5.6 move on Mt. Whitney. It could be an adventure and a road to self-discovery.

oh lordy, now you've done it. ya dun gone and made caribe mad. Just remember, there is no apologizing in online forums, only hate, rage, and juvenile fart sucking jokes.... Oh wait, with caribe, I believe you need at least a masters degree and direct access to Wikipedia to follow all the humor.
In any case, caribe was probably trying to be sincere and a newcomer to this site asking for help getting into climbing should feel a bit lucky that none of the other chuckleheads on the site got to you first.

If this is the route you want to take then you need to be able to traverse on 5.7 terrain. If you can handle a day of several moderate routes at Fortress Wall you will be ready. Party Time, Bedtime for Bonzo, Calypso I & 2, Snake, Bombs Bursting, etc.

No, as in Red. Canis Rufus: reddish-grey wolf of southwestern North America and Lynxis Rufus: Bay Lynx, Red Lynx, Bob cat. Rufus: Latin, meaning red or red hair. The Latin sound of you nick made me go there. Krampus Rufus = Joel

Biology 101: The genus of an organism gets capitalized, but NEVER EVER EVER capitalize the epithet for species. It's kind of a cardinal rule.

...and if I wanted to be a stickler, which I do, I'd mention that Lynx rufus should also either be in italics or underlined.

Trad,
I'm not sure if that's the East Face or East Buttress, I think the latter. Thanks for the suggested training climbs. I'm going to be in touch with a guide at the RRG who will most certainly help. As I recall my climb at the Grand, it was rated 5.6, but we did it in 2 days. We plan 3 days at Whitney.
The more I look around at RRG stuff, I'm pretty excited to get over there.
