Without getting too sucked into this, I will say that dog owners have done way more for the red then dog haters. Way. More.

Keep in mind one main reason Torrent climbing is now restricted is as a result of the many years of unrestricted impact. It really needed some time to recover and it's amazing how much better it has gotten with the break.

Every climber should be concerned with their impact, especially seeing as how busy our areas have gotten. Leaving your dog at home or keeping it restrained are two prime ways you can limit your impact. Dogs sometimes cause as much damage as bipeds, so please consider your responsibility should you decide to bring Fluffy to the crag.

To me persons who bring their dogs to Muir fall somewhere between Red-Headed Bastard Step Child and Drive-Thru Cashiers who place the coins on top of the bills when returning change.

Leave it at home.

You should definitely consider your responsibility should you decide to bring RRO to the crag with you!

Dogs are connoisseurs of manuer, thus are walking WAG bags. They effectively help reduce human impact, IMO.

I like dogs. I hang mine from a string around my neck. Never had many problems with it, it's pretty quiet and doesn't move much. I chalk it up to good dog training.
